You can try it for free! Ubisoft‘s major strategy game set in the Roman Empire has announced a free-to-play window for everyone. Anno 117: Pax Romana will be playable at no cost from February 26 through March 2.
This week is packed with chances to sample games for free. Steam has kicked off its first Next Fest of 2026, and the storefront is currently overflowing with demos across every genre. At the same time, Ubisoft is making a similar push with one of its already released titles by confirming a free-to-play weekend for Anno 117: Pax Romana. Put simply, players can jump into this Roman Empire strategy experience without buying it first.
In a notice posted on Ubisoft‘s official website, the company confirms that players can access Anno 117: Pax Romana for free between February 26 and March 2. The French publisher is also encouraging strategy fans to get ready in advance with a pre-load available from February 24 on PC and PS5 (the Xbox Series X|S version cannot be pre-installed). That means users will be able to test the game’s city-building systems and deep economic simulation directly, including mechanics tied to diplomacy and combat.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is already outlining its next steps
Anno 117: Pax Romana launched in November 2025, but its developers have already refined the experience with patches and even added paid content to the base game through the Mosaic Pack DLC. As the name suggests, it is a cosmetic add-on that brings more than 30 extra designs for floors, walls, and a range of architectural elements.
On top of that, Ubisoft has published a YouTube video indicating the team is not slowing down and is already preparing Year 1 content. The teaser, which references comments from Reddit and Discord, implies that players will need to guide citizens “through river floods, trade disputes, cultural conflicts, shady wages, volcanic eruptions” and more. So, all signs point to upcoming news about what will arrive in the Year 1 Pass for Anno 117: Pax Romana. In the meantime, players can use the incoming free weekend to discover the base experience and see what it has to offer.
