This Is the Video Game Developed by Trump’s Alleged Attacker [VIDEO]

The suspect identified in the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, where Donald Trump was in attendance, also had a public profile as a teacher, engineer and indie game developer. Cole Tomas Allen is listed on Steam as the developer and publisher of Bohrdom, a strange chemistry-inspired, non-violent asymmetrical action game released in 2018.

Bohrdom is not exactly a conventional action title. According to its Steam page, Cole Allen is both the developer and publisher, and the game was released on December 20, 2018. Its official description calls it a skill-based, non-violent asymmetrical “atomic fighting game” loosely derived from a chemistry model. In practical terms, it is presented as a hybrid of bullet hell, racing mechanics and self-propelled pinballs. The game includes single-player, online PvP, shared and split-screen PvP, Steam achievements and Steam Cloud support, so it was not merely a student experiment uploaded in passing, but a complete indie release built around a highly unusual physics-and-chemistry concept.

The user reviews beneath the game have now become a story of their own. Bohrdom currently carries a “Mixed” rating on Steam, with 49 percent positive feedback across 83 Steam purchaser reviews, while recent reviews stand at 47 percent positive from 80 entries. Many of the newest comments no longer focus purely on the game itself, but react to the shooting case and the sudden attention around its developer. Several posts mock the bizarre publicity surrounding the title, while others still point to more conventional complaints: a confusing tutorial, odd controls, repetitive gameplay, weak feedback and a generally rough, unfinished feel.

Allen’s name has now surfaced for a far darker reason. U.S. authorities have identified Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old man from Torrance, California, as the suspect in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. The event was being held at the Washington Hilton, with Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and several cabinet officials in attendance. According to reports, an armed man ran toward the ballroom after passing through a security checkpoint, prompting an immediate Secret Service response. One law enforcement officer was shot but was protected by a bullet-resistant vest, while Trump was removed from the room unharmed.

An Indie Developer’s Profile Is Now Part of the Investigation

Investigators currently believe Allen may have acted alone, but they have not announced a clear motive. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the suspect is facing firearm-related charges and a count connected to assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon. Authorities said the man had a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives. Police and federal agents also moved quickly in California, with searches being pursued at addresses associated with Allen in the Torrance area. The case is therefore moving on two tracks at once: the immediate criminal prosecution in Washington, and the broader search for motive, planning and possible warning signs.

The public portrait of Allen is unusually contradictory. According to his LinkedIn profile and reporting by major news agencies, he graduated from Caltech in 2017 with a degree in mechanical engineering and later earned a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 2025. He worked as a teacher at C2 Education, where a 2024 post identified him as Teacher of the Month. Public professional descriptions linked to him present him as an engineer, computer scientist, teacher and independent game developer. In that context, Bohrdom is not a random footnote: it appears to have been part of the professional identity he built online.

What happens next will depend on the court process and the investigation now unfolding around the shooting. Allen is expected to face formal proceedings in Washington, and additional charges may follow as prosecutors and federal investigators examine the weapons, his travel, his hotel stay and any digital material recovered from searches. The incident will also intensify scrutiny of security at major political and media events, especially those attended by a sitting president and senior officials. Until investigators disclose more, the central fact remains stark enough: the man accused in the Trump dinner shooting was also the creator of Bohrdom, a niche Steam game that has suddenly been dragged from obscurity into the shadow of a political attack.
