Many games were made from the cartoon partly created by Gábor Csupó, and Limited Run Games is now preparing to release a collection built around them.
Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection is a compilation of six classic Rugrats games starring the iconic babies of the 1990s. When Rugrats: Search for Reptar launched on PS1 in 1998, it marked the beginning of Tommy Pickles and his tiny gang of friends and enemies getting swept up in all sorts of adventures. Across six fun and memorable titles, the crew teams up to hunt down missing puzzle pieces, heads out on an exciting mission to rescue Dil, Tommy’s cheeky little brother, and gets dragged into adventures set in historical locations, a movie studio, and an exhilarating Parisian amusement park.
Rugrats: Search for Reptar originally launched in 1998 for PlayStation, and it was the first Rugrats adventure to guide the gang through a jigsaw-style mystery. The Rugrats Movie, based on the film of the same name, was originally released for Game Boy and Game Boy Color, and sends the babies off to find the missing Dil Pickles. Rugrats: Time Travelers is a lively platformer released in 1999 for Game Boy Color, and its adventure begins in a toy store where a mysterious but irresistible time machine is waiting.
Rugrats: Studio Tour is a 1999 action-adventure game that first appeared on PS1, sending the crew through various film sets inside a movie studio packed with danger and intrigue. Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, another entertaining film adaptation, first launched on Game Boy Color, PS1, and N64, and takes the crew to an exciting Paris theme park full of trouble. Rugrats: Castle Capers released exclusively on Game Boy Advance in 2001, with the Rugrats gang trying to recover their stolen toys from Angelica, who is holding them hostage in a fortress-like playground.
Every title includes brand-new quality-of-life upgrades designed to improve the experience for retro fans. Players can relive the nostalgia with customizable screen filters that bring back that warm old CRT television feel, save-anywhere support, a rewind feature that gives players a second chance in especially tricky moments, and an included music player that lets fans enjoy the soundtrack even when they are not actively playing.
This collection of charming retro gems will not only be available digitally, but also in two attractive physical editions that should make fans of the 1990s very happy. The Standard Edition includes a physical copy of the game, beautiful cover art, and a printed booklet inside the case. The Deluxe Edition contains everything from the Standard Edition, but also adds a PS1-inspired game case, the soundtrack, a Reptar puzzle-piece keychain, and several stickers.
Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection launches digitally on May 15 for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders for the physical edition will open in May on the Limited Run Games website.
