Pearl Abyss has launched an unusual cloud-based trial for Crimson Desert that only requires a solid internet connection. The 20-minute demo runs without installation and can stream Pywel at up to 1080p and 60 FPS.

Players curious about Crimson Desert can now sample Pearl Abyss’ vast open-world action game without downloading tens of gigabytes or owning a high-end PC. The trial is available to PC users through Twitch in a web browser, while the actual game is rendered remotely on cloud servers.

Amazon GameLift Streams powers the experience. The service can deliver the game at Full HD resolution and 60 frames per second, although image quality, input latency and overall stability will naturally depend on the player’s internet connection.

The trial provides 20 minutes to explore Pywel. Pearl Abyss skips the lengthy prologue, so the session begins with Kliff falling from a great height before giving players room to explore and test the core mechanics. It is not enough time to grasp the scale of the entire adventure, but it should provide a useful impression of the combat, traversal and visual presentation.

The initiative is particularly notable because Crimson Desert still has no conventional downloadable demo on Steam. This browser-based option is therefore aimed at people who want to judge the game before buying it, as well as those who lack the storage space or hardware needed to run the full release locally.
