MOVIE NEWS – Netflix has optioned the Geiger comic, potentially setting up a new post-apocalyptic franchise built around a radioactive antihero. The project could combine the worlds of Fallout, Mad Max and superhero cinema.

Netflix is searching the comic-book market for its next major streaming success. Among several newly optioned properties is Geiger, whose vivid post-nuclear setting could give the service a recognizable answer to Prime Video’s enormously successful Fallout.

Writer Geoff Johns, artist Gary Frank and colorist Brad Anderson created the comic, which debuted through Image Comics in 2021. Its story unfolds years after nuclear war devastated the planet, leaving outlaws and desperate survivors battling across a poisoned wasteland.

The danger zone is home to Geiger, a feared figure also known as Joe Glow and the Meltdown Man. His glowing radioactive appearance recalls Ghost Rider, while the series mixes Fallout-style survival, the brutality of Mad Max and the revenge-driven energy of a superhero story.

Netflix optioned the property in July 2026 after an earlier attempt to develop a series at Paramount failed to move forward. An option does not guarantee production, and there is currently no confirmed cast, filming schedule or release date.

The streamer has also picked up adaptation rights to comics including Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, Radio Spaceman and The Infinite Horizon. However, Geiger may be the most immediately suited to a large-scale live-action series or movie thanks to its striking world and visually distinctive protagonist.
