Is the Next Steam Hardware Release Just Around the Corner?

TECH NEWS – According to a rumor, the next piece of hardware from Gabe Newell’s company could be released shortly after the Steam Controller.

On May 4, gamers around the world will be able to get their hands on Valve’s new Steam Controller. It is the first of three devices Valve unveiled last year. Although we previously heard that all three devices, the Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame, would arrive in 2026, a reliable Valve insider revealed that the next device, likely the Steam Machine, will be released sooner than expected.

Brad Lynch, a well-known Valve insider, tweeted that Valve received a large quantity of “game consoles” at its U.S. distribution warehouse in recent weeks. He uses a bot to track import data from certain companies, including Valve. He then shared a link showing a large number of items labeled “game console” sent to Valve. The obvious conclusion is that the Steam Machine will be the next device released, but this vague description could also apply to the Steam Frame. While we can’t be sure which device it refers to, we can be certain that Valve is preparing for the release of its next piece of hardware now that the Steam Controller is on the market.

Although Valve dispelled speculation this week with the official announcement of the Steam Controller’s release date, speculation that all three new Steam devices would launch simultaneously, it was clear that they wanted to release the Steam Controller before the Steam Machine. Now that the controller is practically here, the machine’s release date would still have to be set for a month or less from now for it to be released “at the same time.”

Hopefully, that’s how it will be, but we’ll find out soon enough.
