While we wait for the latest DLC for The Witcher 3, the game has achieved another significant sales milestone despite being released 11 years ago.

After months of rumors, CD Projekt RED (CDPR) announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will officially receive new DLC in 2027. In its latest financial report covering the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, CDPR announced that the legendary RPG reached another massive sales milestone – total sales have exceeded 65 million copies to date. The Witcher 3 has been a hit for years, with tens of millions of copies sold since its original release in 2015. Therefore, it wasn’t surprising when rumors surfaced that CDPR might be working on another expansion for the hugely successful RPG.

In 2023, CDPR announced that it had sold over 50 million copies, so the additional 15 million sold over the past three years explains why CDPR greenlit Songs of the Past as more than a stopgap for fans awaiting The Witcher IV. As for this game, CDPR has once again increased its efforts by expanding its staff, though not by as much as the 24% increase seen in March. The total number of developers rose by about 4.3%, from 933 in February to 975 on April 30. CDPR is currently working with 513 developers on The Witcher IV, a slight increase of about a dozen since the last financial report. Some of the team is also working on Cyberpunk 2 and Project Sirius.

If The Witcher 3 has sold an additional 15 million copies in the last three years without any new expansions, it will be interesting to see how quickly it reaches its next sales milestone with the release of the Songs of the Past DLC approaching.
