Resident Evil 0 Remake: Has the Yet-to-Be-Announced Remake Been Rebooted?

According to a rumor, the remake of the game that was originally planned for the N64 but ultimately skipped a console generation may also have changed development teams.

After months of speculation, Capcom finally unveiled the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake at Summer Game Fest. It is the latest entry in the company’s remake series, which began with Resident Evil 2 in 2019. Now that we know this remake is coming next year, fans are immediately wondering what comes next in the remake series, and that could currently be a Resident Evil 0 remake. However, according to reliable leaker Dusk Golem, development of the remake is not going as smoothly as hoped, and it may already have undergone a reboot.

The insider was responding to a user who expressed concern about the Resident Evil 0 remake, particularly if the team behind the Resident Evil 3 Remake is leading the project. Of the three remakes Capcom has released so far – the second, third, and fourth installments – critics generally agree that the Resident Evil 3 remake is the weakest in the series. Although it was a commercial success, it introduced sweeping changes with which neither critics nor fans agreed – for example, the clock tower was completely omitted -, so it’s understandable why players are concerned that the same team could be leading the Resident Evil 0 remake.

These concerns are not unfounded, as it appears something went wrong during the remake’s development. According to Dusk Golem, the game’s development was rebooted and handed over to Capcom’s Division 1 team. Of course, it’s worth noting that this is merely a rumor, so it should be treated with caution. Over the years, Dusk Golem has proven to be a reliable source of information regarding the Resident Evil franchise. However, the information he shares is not infallible, and it should not be treated as such.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long after the release of Resident Evil: Veronica to receive official information about the rumored Resident Evil 0 Remake.
