Thanks to crowdfunding, Blue Lily and LightWitch are no longer developing the game only for PC.
Moonlight Pale is a 2D, hand-drawn survival horror game set in a girls’ seminary from the late 1800s. In Moonlight Pale, players take on the role of Juliette, a student at Saint Birgitta’s Seminary for Girls, who follows the spirit of her deceased cat into an old, abandoned building hidden deep in the school garden. Harassed by monsters and apparitions, she must make her way through eerily familiar corridors while trying to help the other girls trapped alongside her. The game is inspired by classic survival horror titles such as Silent Hill, Signalis, Rule of Rose, and the Horror RPG Maker series, and it features two core gameplay modes: Search, in which Juliette explores the environment, collects items, and solves inventory-based puzzles, and Caution, a slower, quieter mode in which she can dodge, block, and fight in close combat.
Blue Lily Games is the creative partnership of artist Ao Clover and programmer Cachi Cordova, both known for their contributions to other indie games. The game’s music is composed by acclaimed horror composer Arai Tasuku, known for NieR: Automata, Mili, Matryoshka, and World’s End Girlfriend. All character dialogue is fully voiced by a cast that includes Chiisa, from Little Goody Two Shoes and Card-En-Ciel; Diana Garnet, from Little Goody Two Shoes and Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls; Lizzie Freeman, from The Amazing Digital Circus and Lycoris Recoil; Kira Buckland, from NieR: Automata and Danganronpa; and Michelle Marie, from Nikke: Goddess of Victory and Zenless Zone Zero.
Development of Moonlight Pale is progressing well: all core systems have already been implemented, the full script has been completed, and voice recording for chapters 1 and 2 is finished. The campaign, which aims to raise around $16,000, or 270,000 MXN, runs for 30 days on Kickstarter; the game is planned for release on Steam in the fourth quarter of 2026 or the first quarter of 2027, with full Steam Deck support. Kickstarter backers can support the campaign at the 299 MXN, roughly $17, tier and receive a copy of the game; additional rewards include an artbook, the game’s soundtrack, an acrylic keychain set, a sticker set, and much more. Stretch goals include additional language support, Mac and Linux ports, extra game modes, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox console ports, and additional animated cutscenes. The game will launch with English, Japanese, and Spanish localization.
Moonlight Pale is therefore now coming not only to PC, but also to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. There will also be physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Switch. This is happening because the game’s ongoing Kickstarter campaign has surpassed its $47,000 stretch goal for console ports. The PlayStation 5 and Switch versions will be available in standard and Super Eclipse physical editions. The standard edition includes the base game, the game guide, and a photograph of Juliette and Lily. The Super Eclipse edition includes everything in the standard edition plus a mini art album, a magnetic keychain, an enamel pin, and an acrylic diorama, all packaged in a special box.
