The First 30 Minutes of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Have Been Leaked! [VIDEO]

Ubisoft and leaks are like bread and peanut butter: they are simply inseparable…

Less than two weeks before Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches, someone uploaded the game’s full half-hour opening sequence to Bilibili, a platform that can roughly be described as China’s YouTube alternative. The footage appeared only 24 hours after Ubisoft sent the game to content creators and the press. The video quality is poor and was clearly recorded from a test build, but it is still good enough to confirm several details about Ubisoft’s upcoming game.

The opening scenes unfold largely as expected. The remake appears to be a faithful reinterpretation of the 2013 original, although several notable details have changed. New scenes were added before the boss fight against Duncan Walpole, and viewers who watched the leaked footage noted that the expanded introduction makes Duncan appear significantly less competent than he did in the original game.

Whether that is an improvement is naturally subjective, but it was clearly a creative decision to explore Edward’s backstory in greater detail before the confrontation. Another notable change is a fix that Ubisoft seemingly implemented in response to fan feedback. In the original reveal trailer, Edward’s dive into the depths looked awkward, which led many viewers to compare it to how Eivor handled a similar moment before the reveal of Valhalla.

The final game has corrected that issue. The problem slipped through unnoticed during the original reveal, but players immediately spotted it a few months ago, and Ubisoft apparently listened. The game also runs on the latest version of the Anvil engine, supports Dolby Atmos and ray tracing, and offers graphical quality comparable to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The combat system has also been completely overhauled, with Ubisoft adding several new mechanics. Players can pull enemies toward them with a rope while stealthing, throw coins as distractions, and dive underwater almost anywhere on the map. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be released on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC, while the review embargo will lift on July 8.
