AMD FSR 4 Support for Alan Wake 2; Control Resonant Goes Gold!

Even though one of Remedy Entertainment’s games was released two years ago, things are still unfolding around it and another one of the studio’s games.

Since the release of Alan Wake 2 in late 2023, Remedy Entertainment has provided excellent post-launch support, releasing numerous updates and DLCs. One of these DLCs leads directly to the studio’s next game, Control Resonant. Despite the long time since the game’s release, Remedy hasn’t abandoned it. A new PC update brings welcome new features and improvements, including official support for AMD FSR 4.

If your graphics card supports the upscaler, it will be enabled by default after installing the update when you select the FSR Super Resolution option. Additionally, support for AMD FSR Frame Generation has arrived, providing smoother gameplay on supported GPUs. These PC changes and improvements are complemented by Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering, which now use the Agility SDK and support products from multiple GPU manufacturers. Additionally, audio synchronization issues have been fixed across all platforms, along with a few minor crashes.

The timing of the latest Alan Wake 2 update couldn’t be better: Remedy Entertainment confirmed that Control Resonant (briefly shown at the end of the “Lake House” DLC) has gone gold, over a month before its September 24 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. This means that mass production of the disc version has begun. However, this welcome news was accompanied by a disappointing announcement. The physical release of the game was postponed to October 15. The team needs a little more time to deliver the physical version, but let’s stay calm—nothing remains out of reach forever.

With so many games coming out in September, including Onimusha: Way of the Sword, The Blood of Dawnwalker, and Silent Hill: Downfall, Marvel’s Wolverine), the slight delay in the physical release might allow people to enjoy the games more during one of the craziest release months ever (thanks to Grand Theft Auto VI, which is coming out on November 19…).

Grabbing controllers since the middle of the nineties. Mostly he has no idea what he does - and he loves Diablo III. (Not.)
