Miami-Dade officials want several real-world locations to take on a Vice City identity when Grand Theft Auto VI launches. The county has already held talks with Rockstar, although no formal agreement has been reached yet.

With its neon lights, beaches, and palm trees, Miami has inspired Grand Theft Auto for decades. This time, however, the relationship could be reversed: Miami itself wants to become part of the game’s launch. County officials have contacted Rockstar about a large-scale themed partnership timed around the November release of GTA VI.

Carlos Suárez, spokesperson for Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, confirmed that discussions with the publisher have taken place. He stressed that nothing has been formally agreed or approved and that every proposal would still have to pass the relevant review process.

“Given Miami-Dade’s clear influence on the game, we believe there may be a unique opportunity to generate revenue for the county while showcasing Miami-Dade to a massive audience.”

A proposal submitted on June 29 outlines several eye-catching ideas. Miami International Airport could greet visitors with a GTA VI-branded display aircraft, a customized baggage-claim area, themed carousels, decorated luggage carts, and limited-edition baggage tags.

Downtown Metromover trains could be wrapped in Vice City colors and graphics, while major stations would receive themed signage and murals created by local artists. The plan also suggests a Port Gellhorn-inspired mural at PortMiami and a photo or sculpture installation at Rickenbacker Beach.

The initiative illustrates the cultural and economic scale expected around Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar has not announced an official partnership, but if the proposal moves forward, Miami could quite literally become Vice City for the game’s launch.
