Asha Sharma spent only 24 seconds discussing Halo’s future, but she made it clear that Xbox has not abandoned the franchise. According to the executive, the series remains a core pillar of the business and part of a long-term strategy.
More than four years have passed since Halo Infinite launched, prompting an increasing number of players to question how important the series still is to Microsoft. BBC News asked Asha Sharma that very question, and while her response was brief, it pointed in an encouraging direction.
Sharma said the legacy of major gaming franchises allows a publisher to adopt a long-term strategy. She did not promise an immediate announcement or reveal a new release, but stressed that Halo still occupies a central place in Xbox’s business.
“It is a core franchise in our business and represents a major part of players’ lives. We are building its future on those memories.”
The franchise’s latest release, Halo: Campaign Evolved, sold 1.2 million copies during its first two weeks. Xbox Series accounted for 41.8% of those sales, while PlayStation 5 represented 40.8%, showing that the series can still reach a new audience.
Meanwhile, the former 343 Industries has entered a new era under the Halo Studios name. Neither the studio nor Xbox has revealed concrete details about the next major project, but Sharma promised that more information about the franchise’s future will arrive at the right time.
