PlayStation 4 Reaches Yet Another Domestic Milestone!

The PlayStation 4 sells extremely well.

This time, Sony’s console managed to reach a round figure on local soil: Media Create‘s report reveals that the PlayStation 4’s sales in Japan have surpassed six million! With the 43808 sold consoles on the January 8-14 week, the tally stands at 6 million, 27 thousand 894 units sold in the domestic market.

However, the PlayStation 4 Pro does not reach a significant portion of it: „only” 567563 were sold of it, which isn’t a lot, especially if you consider that Sony’s stronger console has been available in Japan for over a year. If you also add that the PlayStation 4 had a weak start in Japan due to a lack of titles by Japanese developers, causing the initial interest drop until the first price cut, the PlayStation 4 Pro‘s situation is even more… saddening.

We’ll see how Monster Hunter World (which will launch next week worldwide) will push the PlayStation 4 ahead… as it will not be available on the Nintendo Switch, which pretty much took over the throne in Japan since its launch!
