This game is officially not announced (yet?), even though 2019’s Call of Duty, called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was announced (which itself shares the same name as 2007’s CoD, although back in the day, that FPS was usually called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare…).
So there will be a Call of Duty this year, too, but we might get two, not just one. Remember 2016’s move by Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward? That’s when the first game was released, but only those who got the 80 dollar/euro version of 2016’s Infinite Warfare could access it. Sure, it got an independent release a year or so later, but still, it was quite an annoying marketing move.
You can prepare for the same this year. TrueAchievements lists something called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, which is why it seems that Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward to make us pay not only for the allegedly new engine, but also by probably once again tying the 2009 Call of Duty game’s remastered campaign as an extra to the more expensive Modern Warfare edition, even though Activision said that Infinity Ward didn’t sell that well, but the franchise turned around in 2017 with Sledgehammer’s WWII. If this game gets announced at E3, we will not be surprised.
This second remastered game, which we have discussed and heard about multiple times in the past year or so, will likely be confirmed at E3, and even though we only rely on an achievement website, we believe it. History tends to repeat itself. (However, we wonder whether it could be just (?) a pre-order bonus this time around…? We’re probably being far too optimistic about it.)
