Is 2019’s Call Of Duty Not Modern Warfare 4 After All?

It is a bit confusing to see what this year’s Activision Blizzard plans are – shouldn’t it be time to reveal what Infinity Ward is doing after all…?

GamingIntel reports that 2019’s Call of Duty might not be Modern Warfare 4 after all we have heard. However, it would still be a new Modern Warfare title. The site’s source claims that its campaign mode will be similar to the No Russian mission (which became infamous in Modern Warfare 2 – we could fire on people on a Russian airport… figure out the rest), and it will also go into modern terrorism. These thoughts are completely against the things we have heard and discussed in the past months – perhaps it was the publisher’s idea to take us off the proper route to surprise us, but they will need more than this low-effort thing.

The interesting thing here is that GamingIntel was also the first to break the news in May 2018 (a year ago) that a new Modern Warfare title is in development, but there might be some sudden changes here as we have heard about 2020’s Call of Duty game (which we wrote about recently: in short, it’s not Sledgehammer that will develop it – instead, it will be Treyarch). We can still have our doubts, though – there is a retailer that seems to be all but ready to take those sweet Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 preorders.

InstantGaming already has a product page for a game that isn’t even announced yet, and they seem to have Photoshopped a box art for it as well; either they know something that we don’t, or they bet it all on a horse that might lose the race for them.

2019’s Call of Duty is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it will be announced shortly. Activision Blizzard will likely not leave it to the E3 to do so, as they are in cahoots with Sony (the PS4 is getting all the DLC a month early), but they will not be out at E3 this year…
