Hitman 3 Is „Well Underway”

Hitman 3 – The Danish IO Interactive did not forget about the bald agent who kills foes with a piano string.

Let’s quote a part of the devs’ post that details the November updates of Hitman 2. It has something else that we need to see: „After 13 months of full-time support and content for HITMAN 2 – at no additional cost (besides what we added through the Expansion Pass), we’re now at a place where we are looking increasingly to the future. In real terms, we’re moving more and more of the HITMAN 2 team to join the next Hitman game, which is well underway.” The last major patch for Hitman 2 will launch on November 19, and while it will still get content updates and „live content” in 2020 as well, the game will no longer be a priority for the devs.

With this quote, IO Interactive has confirmed that Hitman 3 is being developed (let’s hope that it will be the name of the game, but we’ll go with it…), and seeing the time of the announcement, we can pretty much be sure about it being in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Project Scarlett along the PC, meaning Agent 47, who doesn’t speak but does the job, will enter the next generation.

The publisher will likely be Warner Bros. once again – until 2017, IO Interactive was owned by Square Enix, but the team went independent, and with it, they also managed to gain the intellectual property rights to Hitman as well. Then, they teamed up with Warner for Hitman 2, which wasn’t in an episodic format like the first title was. As IO Interactive is also working on a „new universe” aside from Hitman 3 (we wrote about that before), we’ll wait for more details.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Hitman 3 would be a cross-gen game, launching in a year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Project Scarlett, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
