Resident Evil News: New Leaks About Resident Evil 8 And The Netflix Series?

Resident Evil 8 – A new game and a new series – one of Capcom‘s older IPs are about to do a double.

The German Gamez.de has discussed new rumours in a video, that fortunately got recapped by RelyOnHorror. We have to tell you upfront that none of the following has been confirmed!

The rumour that the game had been scrapped and development started over (several times) could be wrong. The discussions about the logo design and if the game has a number 8 in the title are useless at this point since things can still change a lot. The game’s release is maybe in 1.5 – 2 years, meaning it will likely not be available before the autumn of 2021. Its setting will be Eastern Europe or an adjacent country to that area, with villages & a snowy landscape. There will also be a castle, but it’s smaller than the one from Resident Evil 4, featuring a medieval setting and enemy designs.

The game will not feature actual werewolves, but wolf-like creatures. One or more witches will be hunting Ethan (who will return from Resident Evil 7 – Chris will also return, but with a twist), even though it sounds like the Hookman from one of the scrapped Resident Evil 4 designs, it’s something new. The zombies are wearing knight armour and they wield swords. The gameplay will be more action-heavy than Resident Evil 7, closer to Not a Hero DLC. The director has been with Capcom for a while, and he didn’t change projects or leave. He was previously a behind-the-scenes executive producer, who directed one game.

There’s also a short synopsis that was published by Netflix, then it got deleted. No problem, it got archived: „The town of Clearfield, MD has long stood in the shadow of three seemingly unrelated behemoths – the Umbrella Corporation, the decommissioned Greenwood Asylum, and Washington, D.C. Today, twenty-six years after the discovery of the T-Virus, secrets held by the three will start to be revealed at the first signs of an outbreak.”

As we already heard rumours about the series in January 2019, it seems they were true, and it’s about to be completed. We’ll see. It looks like we have to wait a while until Resident Evil 8 arrives, though.
