Sony Interactive Entertainment finally revealed when they will talk more about the PlayStation 5 and its games.
Initially, Sony planned to hold the next-gen console’s event on June 4 (making the rumours true in the process…), but due to the protests in the United States, every event from the last week got delayed by a week or so, expressing that „there are more important voices to be heard” (you can find it in almost every delay statement, such as EA Play Live, Guerrilla Collective, Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire, PC Gaming Show 2020, or The Future Games Show 2020).
„Now that the event is confirmed for June 11, I wanted to add that this pre-taped program will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second. This eased the show’s production process during a time when many of our team and developers are working from home. The games you’ll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you’d expect,” said Sony Interactive Entertainment senior director of content communications Sid Shuman on the PlayStation Blog. That is such a weird excuse for the 1080p/30 FPS.
The broadcast will be a little over an hour long. It will start on June 11 at 1 PM PT, 4 PM ET, 9 PM UK, 10 PM CET. You can watch PlayStation 5: The Future Of Gaming on YouTube, Twitch, and PlayStation.com.
Perhaps that’s why there were rumours about Microsoft pushing its Xbox Series X show to August. However, Aaron Greenberg (Xbox’ head of marketing) and Samuel Bateman, marketing lead of Xbox UK both confirmed on Twitter that they’re still planning the event for July.
The PlayStation 5 could still get an August event (where they could confirm the price), and the console is set to arrive this Holiday season around the world. We’ll talk about the Xbox Series X in detail later today.
