The 2K NFL game will focus on community experiences and fun once real life players are guaranteed.
Sports games publisher 2K Sports recently signed an agreement with the NFL Players Association or NFLPA, which grants 2K Sports permission to use the names of real league players and teams in their future football games, the first of which will debut after April 2021 and should have a rather arcade focus. The publisher had already signed a commercial agreement with the league a few months ago.
It should be remembered that the competitor, Electronic Arts, extended its relationship with NFL until the year 2026 and it is this one that has the right to take realistic approach to the sport of tackling.
Fun, accessible games and social experiences
2K Sports will focus, in the words of its director David Ismailer, on “fun, accessible games and social experiences”, so you can expect cartoon titles in the NFL Street or NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 style .
“We are very excited to be working with the NFLPA and OneTeam (representative of the association) to bring the biggest and best stars in American football to the games we work on. We want to deliver to fans, experiences that are authentic, memorable and fun, and having a repertoire of real-life sports heroes, thanks to the Players Association and OneTeam, is key to delivering on that promise,” Ismailer said.
It will be the first time that 2K Sports has entered the field of football since All-Pro Football 2K8 in 2007. Years before, it had competed head-on with Madden, through the NFL 2K saga. ESPN NFL 2K5 is considered by many to be one of the best football games in history and was also the last officially licensed game in the league.
