Currency conversions seemed to be an issue for the French publisher, whose new game is now around the corner.
The image below is from Reddit, showcasing how Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Ultimate Edition was heavily discounted in the Norwegian version of the Ubisoft Connect client. The original price is 1199 NOK, approximately 130 dollars. That was discounted to… only 110. No matter how you look at it, an approx. 12-dollar price is a 90% discount.
It’s probably nothing more than a mistake (even though the Viking adventures getting such a price cut in Scandinavia would make a lot of sense, plus it could be a good marketing move for Ubisoft). On another version of the storefront, where the euro is used, the game is 110 euros instead of 120. PCGamer contacted Ubisoft about whether the lucky Norwegians get to keep the cheap copy of the game or not. No answer came from Ubisoft as of now.
VG Tech has done a technical analysis on the current-gen console versions of the game: „[The] Xbox One X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840×2160 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2432×1368. Native resolution pixel counts near 3093×1740 seem to be common on Xbox One X. Xbox One X seems to rarely render at a native resolution of 3840×2160. It has some enhancements over the other consoles such as improved LOD transition distance, a longer draw distance and improved texture quality in some scenes. The PlayStation 4 Pro uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 2560×1440 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1824×1026. Native resolution pixel counts near 2304×1296 seem to be common on PS4 Pro. It downsamples from this resolution when outputting at 1080p with forced supersampling disabled.
[The] PlayStation 4 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1920×1080 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1493×840. Native resolution pixel counts near 1728×972 seem to be common on PS4. [The] Xbox One S uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1600×900 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1194×672. Native resolution pixel counts near 1344×756 seem to be common on Xbox One S,” the analysis says.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which is out today on Xbox Series, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia (the PlayStation 5 port drops on November 12/19), also uses a form of temporal reconstruction that lets them hit their highest possible resolution when rendering below it.
