Is Activision Blizzard Preparing For A New Tony Hawk Game?

Bam Margera’s brother is hinting that there is a new deal with the veteran skater (Tony Hawk), and a new game might be in the works.

Jess Margera is the drummer in the band called CKY, and he thinks that after the success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, Activision Blizzard has tasked one of its studios to develop a new title. He talked about this in the newest episode of the Behind Closed Doors podcast in late April.

Now, touring is your main income, and you have to try and get licensing deals. [You have to] try and get in where you can on video games or whatever […] And I believe we’re doing the new [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game] coming out too,” Margera said. However, don’t immediately think of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 (even though its Nintendo Switch port will arrive on June 25), as he knows about the game.

„Yeah, my son just got a PlayStation 5 and he got the remaster[s] of [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater] 1 and 2. It’s so cool because the classic Tony Hawks are just so good and laid out great, but obviously, the system [the original PlayStation] is old and the graphics aren’t so great, so they [Vicarious Visions] just vamped up with the same premise and the graphics are amazing,” Margera added.

Here’s the twist: CKY had their track 96 Quite Bitter Beings included in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. Thus, Activision Blizzard might be looking into remastering the series’ third and fourth games. The third one has brought in an important move that made shredding combos in the millions far easier than before (reverts, which effectively made the gameplay of the first two THPS titles outdated).
