Rainbow Six: Quarantine Gets Re-Christened [VIDEO]

Now, the new game is called Rainbow Six: Extraction. Not Parasite. And it’s official now.

The series won’t stop at Rainbow Six: Siege, even though this game is still going strong, as the French company’s live service approach has been strengthened by this title as well. Still, the game that was meant to continue the legacy, Rainbow Six: Quarantine (which was announced almost two years ago, at E3 2019!), still got renamed to Rainbow Six: Extraction.

The reasoning is understandable: a certain pandemic has resulted in lengthy quarantine periods for many people, which meant keeping the title wouldn’t have been beneficial for Ubisoft. (And we can also add that Tencent, one of China’s tech giants, has ownership in the French company… and we’re sure the title would not have flown well with the Chinese censors, whose approval is necessary for the official launch in the country with hundreds of millions of potential players…)

„Since the announcement, the game has grown a lot. As it evolved, the core of the experience became clearer and clearer: operators uniting against a common enemy, learning about the parasite, how to overcome it and protect each other every step of the way. We know there’s been speculation and today we’re excited to share the official name of our game. We are proud to announce Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction,” the producer, Antoine Vimal du Monteil said.

„We took the strong foundation of Rainbow Six Siege and crafted a modern tactical cooperative shooter where you’ll be facing an always-evolving alien threat. You’ll have plenty of challenges to overcome, but you’ll always have one goal in mind: making sure no one gets left behind. It will be up to you and your squad to decide when to push forward or when to extract. As you will soon discover, extraction is truly the name of the game,” the creative director, Patrik Methé added.

Rainbow Six: Extraction will be part of Ubisoft Forward, which will start on June 12, at noon Pacific. However, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake will not be part of the E3 event. We recently wrote why.
