Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Developers Seek Mexican Talent

Call of Duty: Vanguard is now complete, so Sledgehammer Games is broadening its horizons, and the pandemic has prompted several changes within the studio.

Now that Call of Duty: Vanguard has been released, Sledgehammer Games, the studio behind the title, is looking elsewhere. Gerardo Garza, the game’s Senior Lead Environment Artist, gave us a glimpse of one of the company’s goals.

Sledgehammer Games is looking for talent from around the world, including Mexico, to work on the next instalments of the franchise.

Garza also shared with us the challenges the team working on Vanguard has gone through. After the pandemic sent everyone home, Sledgehammer had to learn how to “communicate again”.

“Telecommuting is very different from communicating in person, where you can use signals or whatever,” Garza said.

“But it created new opportunities because we had teams in California, Toronto, Europe and Australia, and we were all learning together in our own homes, in our own homes, remotely.”

Update: A few hours after the news broke, Activision, publisher of Call of Duty: Vanguard, clarified that while Sledgehammer Games is looking for talent globally, including Mexico, the studio has no plans to open a branch in Mexico City specifically.
