This is also the case with Hogwarts Legacy, where in marketing one industry has no idea exactly what the other is doing.
Hogwarts Legacy will be an RPG set in the Harry Potter universe, which we’ve written about as coming in 2022, but we’ve also heard that it might not arrive until 2023. The game is so significant that it’s being made into an art book, called The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy, which will tell us how the RPG was made while also revealing its art style.
The Rowling Library has reported that the book will be authored by Jody Revenson, who has already published two similar works of Rowling art (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Movie Magic, Harry Potter Paper Craft), and the site says Insight Editions will publish it on September 6. As the school year at Hogwarts starts on September 1, the first month of autumn would be a logical release date for the book and, therefore, the game, as it would look rather silly if the book were followed months later by the game, which is what it is about…
When this game was announced, this is what David Haddad, Warner Bros. Games’ president, said: “Hogwarts Legacy gives players control over their own experience with RPG gameplay unlike anything else in the Wizarding World, which will continue to build fan appeal in the Portkey Games label. Avalanche has brought to life this rich and deep world, full of action-packed magic, as well as a detailed, mysterious story to engage fans and gamers alike.”
Hogwarts Legacy, set in the late 18th century, is being developed by Avalanche Software, formerly the developer of Disney Infinity games, which closed after the series’ demise but was relaunched under Warner. The open-world RPG has been announced as a multiplatform and cross-gen game and will be released this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (with Denuvo, knowing Warner…), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We may hear more of the game in February and March in a PlayStation event, according to AccountNGT .
