The set of the live-action Snow White catches fire

There was a “massive fire” in the Pinewood Studios where Disney’s live-action Snow White was shot. Thankfully, nobody got injured in the accident.

Pictures and videos of the enormous flames found their way to social media, where they can be seen quite clearly next to Snow White’s little cottage.

“A tree caught on fire, I don’t know how.” — can be heard in the video. Thankfully, nobody on the set got harmed in any way, as everybody managed to leave the set on time. However, it must have been a truly horrifying experience, which they won’t forget for a long time.

“A set made up of a lot of wood, and trees, etc was currently being built in the Richard Attenborough stage. Rumor is a piece of set has caught alight and spread across the rest of the set. Some crew in the studio were shaken but evacuated without injury.” — said another witness.

“It was just mental,” said another witness. “I didn’t see it start but I was told first a tree went up. By the time I got there the flames were massive, going right up to the ceiling. Then bits of the set started falling into flames and the thatched cottage started lighting up.”

Pinewood Studios already had two fire incidents while filming Legend in 1984 and Casino Royale in 2006.

The new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs live-action film isn’t the most successful production of Disney. The live-action Snow White already received a lot of criticism for its questionable choices, such as choosing a Latina actress, Rachel Zegler, for the leading role but still reinforcing stereotypes regarding the dwarfs. Disney proposed using “magical creatures” for the part; however, it is quite an undefined expression.

Peter Dinklage, one of the main actors from The Game of Thrones, addressed this issue on the “WTF” podcast:

“I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. You’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me… You’re progressive in one way and you’re still making that f–king backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f–k are you doing man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”
