Hard West 2 Promises Wild West Action With Witches & Demons [VIDEO]

XCOM-style shootouts with a mixed team of outlaws in the PC-exclusive Hard West 2.

The tactical action of Hard West is back; the shootouts once again take place in a dark wild west where creatures of the night roam free. More than five years after the original game’s release, Ice Code Games has announced Hard West 2, a new turn-based action/strategy/role-playing game scheduled for release on PC in 2022.

PC release in 2022, closed beta coming soon

“Wild West tales blend with sinister occultism in a cruel land of bullets and demons,” reads the official description of the game, which has already confirmed that a closed beta is coming soon and is open for registration. The story? As outlaw Gin Carter, you set out to pull off the ultimate heist on the Ghost Train, a train loaded with federal gold. But it soon becomes clear that the train is named for a reason…

“So begins the fight for survival in the uncharted wastes of the brave West, driven by bullets, magic and a quest for personal redemption at any cost,” continues the official synopsis for Hard West 2. “The right choice will grant loyalty points and new abilities to your most loyal companions, but the wrong choice can sap their commitment to the cause.”

An XCOM-like game, but in the Wild West

Hard West 2 offers thrilling turn-based firefights in “dynamic and ever-changing scenarios” that force you to think carefully about every move you make. All spiced up with action scenes typical of the best westerns, including horse chases and train duels.

In addition to the unique abilities of our companions, Ice Code Games’ new game also features action like Bravata, which can earn you back action points and take out anyone in an instant. “Chain up the kills in style to extend your streak and become a legendary gunslinger,” say the creators of Hard West 2.

They also promise extensive customisation options with a poker deck that allows you to equip your companions with all manner of weapons, explosives and magical amulets. While more details on the game are still to come, the first trailer and screenshots have been released.
