In 2021, Detroit: Become Human surpassed one million copies sold on Steam, generating enormous profits for Quantic Dream.

Quantic Dream has been in the spotlight since The Game Awards 2021, when we learned that they were making a new game, Star Wars Eclipse, set in George Lucas’ universe. However, this isn’t the only project the famous studio is working on, as they have three titles currently entering production.

Detroit: Become Human has sold more than 6.5 million copies

In a press release, the studio shared how they are in good health after achieving record numbers for the third consecutive year, generating €5.8 million in profits in 2021: “Our strong financial results are thanks to our catalogue of titles and in particular Detroit: Become Human, which exceeded the symbolic 1 million copies sold on Steam in 2021. This title represents Quantic Dream’s biggest commercial success, with more than 6.5 million copies sold worldwide on PC and PS4,” celebrated Guillaume de Fondaumière, CEO of Quantic Dream.

The solid financial results, the commercial success of its latest games and the development of ambitious new projects have also been reflected in the company’s headcount, which grew by more than 50% in 2021. The studio has also reportedly been involved in several production collaborations.

Quantic Dream’s workforce has grown by 50%, and they are still hiring.

“After a year of headcount growth, we’ve opened a second hiring cycle for our two production locations in Montreal and Paris,” shared Sophie Buhl, Production Director at Quantic Dream. “In our ongoing quest for innovation, we are opening up to new challenges and new types of games, and we continue to put a lot of effort into research and development. This position offers great opportunities for people who want to work on innovative and ambitious projects, with diverse teams increasingly led by women.”

The studio, founded by David Cage, is also reported to be actively working with independent studios such as Parallel Studio and Red Thread Games, creators of Quantic Dream’s narrative adventure game Dustborn.
