Dragon Age: Dreadwolf: Classic Franchise’s Next Game Gets A Trailer! [VIDEO]

To celebrate Dragon Age Day, BioWare has unveiled a new cinematic trailer for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, focusing on the main enemy.

December 4 marks Dragon Age Day for fans of BioWare’s acclaimed RPG series. The developer released a short cinematic trailer yesterday to showcase Dragon Age’s upcoming sequel, Dreadwolf. The video is narrated by one of the most recognizable voices in the Dragon Age franchise and sheds light on the background and motivations of the game’s antagonist.

BioWare’s Dragon Age RPG series has earned its place as one of the best RPG franchises in gaming.

Dragon Age Day (December 4, which is D4, or DA in Leetspeak) started as a fan holiday. It’s now a necessary time of year for BioWare, with charity events and game launches. To mark the occasion yesterday, a new trailer for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been released, narrated by none other than the dwarf Varric, a favourite character from Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Varric’s narrator role seems to confirm that at least two familiar Dragon Age characters will return in Dreadwolf: Varric, and Solas from Inquisition, aka the Dread Wolf.

Little has actually been revealed about the game so far, although development seems to be well underway. It was recently announced that the new Dragon Age would be playable from start to finish in the alpha phase. As things stand, the game is expected to be released sometime in 2023. They promise to have everything polished and bugs ironed out by that time. Dreadwolf was initially intended to be an online live-action game, although, to the relief of many fans, the game has now become a traditional offline single-player RPG.

Although this is the fourth in the series, BioWare says that playing through the original trilogy will not be necessary to understand the plot of Dreadwolf.

Of course, it’s still worth playing through these titles to get to know the world and characters fully, and it’s a great way to pass the time before the next big reveal.
