Xbox Game Pass is adding a new roguelite first-person shooter to its Game Preview programme on January 30. And Xbox Games with Gold has announced next month’s free titles.
As January draws to a close, Xbox Game Pass will add a few more games. Roboquest joined the service’s Game Preview (Early Access) program yesterday, January 30. Due to the work-in-progress nature of the game, there’s a good chance that things will change before the full launch, which is something fans should keep in mind.
Roboquest puts players in the role of “a high-powered, hyper-mobile robot” who must navigate randomly generated roguelite levels left behind on an unrecognisable land.
It promises locations full of secrets, upgrades and enemies; expect plenty of boss fights too.
Roboquest won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it looks like a chaotic and entertaining firefight. Plus, for those who are convinced, a Game Preview title on Xbox Game Pass is excellent feedback for the developers and the community.
Coming January 31 are the real-time strategy game Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, the ink-based strategy game Inkulinati, and the brawler JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R. Before fans know it, Xbox Game Pass games will also arrive in February 2023.
The twisty RPG Darkest Dungeon, the racing simulator Grid Legends, the racing game Hot Wheels Unleashed – Game of the Year Edition and the alternative historical FPS game Atomic Heart will join Xbox Game Pass sometime next month.
Two more delicacies land as part of Xbox Free Games with Gold
For the King and Guts N Goals have been added to the Xbox Free Games with Gold lineup for February 2023, it has been revealed. These follow the January 2023 Xbox Free Games with Gold games, which include Iris Fall until January 31 and Autonauts from January 16 to February 15.
According to the new announcement, Iris Fall will be replaced by For the King, as it will be available from February 1 to February 28, and Autonauts will be followed by Guts N Goals, which will be available from February 16 to March 15.
In For the King, the kingdom is thrown into chaos as the king is assassinated, and a makeshift band must save the country. The game is single-player and can be played in local or online cooperative modes, with players engaging in turn-based combat, fighting and exploring, all in an attempt to solve the mystery of the King’s murder. At times, For the King feels like a video game made from a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, as the RPG influences and elements are apparent to those familiar with the genre.
With the departure of Autonauts and the addition of Guts N Goals to the service, fans can expect a wild soccer game. This arcade-style soccer title features 30 different playable heroes. Each with its own character abilities and random mutators to change the game. Lots of mini-games, no penalties, crazy stadiums with unique mechanics, and more to make it one of the wildest football games ever released.
