The developers of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have revealed that they have already begun work on the story for the third part of the FF7 remake trilogy.
The co-producer and co-director of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has revealed that they are already working on the story for the third part of the FF7 remake trilogy. Fans won’t have to wait much longer for Rebirth. The game’s latest trailer finally nailed down a release date of February 29, 2024.
Thanks to the recent Tokyo Game Show, where Square Enix was present, fans were able to get a sneak peek at the game.
As part of this, Rebirth’s gameplay was demonstrated at TGS. It included plenty of footage from the game, showing how Red XIII is playable. It also showed that you can swim and the vast areas that players can explore. In addition to the presentation, co-director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase were also present during TGS for a special Samsung livestream. There they talked about Rebirth, where Kitase mentioned that they had already started planning the story for the third game.
In this livestream (the clip was translated by Twitter user aitaikimochi), Kitase mentions that they’ve already started working on the script and plot for the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth post.
According to Kitase, co-director Tetsuya Nomura, writer Kazushige Nojima and himself have already completed what he calls the “first part”. He then mentions that he would like fans to write feedback on Rebirth. The reactions could influence some elements of the story.
According to aitaikimochi, based on Kitase’s reaction and his comments during the interview, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the third game’s story will drastically change the primarily established story threads based only on players’ reactions to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It sounds more like Kitase is asking players to post their reactions online. Discuss the game, as the team really enjoys how players react to the games they make.
The story of Rebirth looks fascinating. After all, it only retells the part of the story up to Fallen Capital. But it also puts some emphasis on the consequences of Cloud’s actions in the previous entry. Between the episode focusing on Zack Fair’s survival and the implication of merging multiple timelines, fans will just have to wait and see what Square Enix has planned for this game. As well as how it all leads into the next instalment.
Kitase and Hamaguchi appeared in a Samsung stream at TGS2023 talking about FF7 Rebirth, and Kitase says they have already started on the story draft for the 3rd game.
However, he said that in general they like to hear fan feedback, which sometimes influences some elements in the… pic.twitter.com/o9ozMsYAMA
