Huawei Vision: A Chinese Apple Vision Pro Rival?

TECH NEWS – The Chinese tech company could be preparing an AR headset, according to rumors, and we’re already hearing rumors of more specifications in the form of…

While there will be similarities between Huawei and Apple, there will also be some differences, and we are also hearing that the Chinese company’s headset will not be so expensive (the base price for the Apple Vision Pro is $3500, and you can pay a third more if you want all the accessories and more storage space) that it could open up a bigger market for itself.

Huawei Central wrote about what Li Nan, former marketing director at Meizu, had to say about Huawei’s headset. It will weigh 350 grams (as opposed to Apple’s 600 grams of hardware) and will also use Sony’s 4K resolution micro-OLED panels (no difference here) to provide a similarly immersive experience. There is only a superficial match between the specifications of the two devices; a deeper look reveals some serious differences. The Huawei Vision lacks EyeSight. The Apple Vision Pro’s feature mimics the wearer’s eyes, allowing the other user to interact with the device while standing or sitting next to it. Huawei certainly won’t have Apple’s M2 and R1 chipsets, so it will have its own in-house hardware, but it’s questionable what the Chinese tech giant will be able to do beyond the Kirin 9000S…

Huawei and SMIC are aiming to move to a 5-nanometer process later this year, but it will certainly not be ready for the release of the Huawei Vision. That said, the rumor also mentioned a lag-free experience, which we don’t see much chance of (especially if they put the Kirin 9000S in the device), as 4K streaming will put a lot of stress on the chip, so its performance won’t be as good.

On a more serious note, the Huawei Vision will reportedly cost HALF the price of Apple’s Vision Pro! We’ll see.
