Sony Santa Monica May Already Be Secretly Working On The New God Of War?!

Sony Santa Monica is looking for a Senior Combat Systems Designer with experience working with God of War (2018) and Ragnarok…

Sony Santa Monica isn’t slowing down when it comes to developing new video games. After surprising the community with an excellent God of War: Ragnarok and a free roguelite-style add-on, it seems the team is back with new projects.

Details of the mystery titles have yet to be revealed, but a recent job posting suggests that more adventures in the popular PlayStation series are likely to follow.

Because, as Geekinout initially reported, Sony Santa Monica is expanding its staff with new professionals dedicated to the world of video game development. Among the positions to be filled in the studio, the position of chief combat designer stands out in particular. According to the requirements published on Sony’s official website, they are looking for someone with experience in the last two instalments of the God of War saga.

Specifically, the “Preferred Experience” section reads: “Candidates who are fluent with the combat design choices, systems, mechanics, and enemies in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022) are preferred.” This is not a prerequisite for work. But the studio is looking for professionals who have already played the latest adventures in the series. Thus, not a few fans see in this a clue of the studio’s next project, which could even be a new part of the GoW series.

Sony Santa Monica is also said to be working on a new IP

We’ve been hearing rumours about Sony Santa Monica’s new God of War for months now. However, the PlayStation studio isn’t just focused on the flagship franchise. After all, all signs indicate that the developers are also working on an entirely new IP. No details about the mysterious license have been shared yet. But we do know that one of the most influential figures in the Kratos franchise, Cory Barlog, is at the helm and that it’s going to be “f*cking brilliant”.
