Square Enix: No plans to port the previous Kingdom Hearts games to PS4

Square Enix made a somewhat respectable comment, which can backfire though with the fans of the franchise, who do not own a PlayStation 3, and yet want to play the previous Kingdom Hearts titles. Square Enix doesn’t plan to port these games to the PlayStation 4, so the 1.5 and the 2.5 HD Remix will both stay in the previous generation, making them not available to the PS4. This is surprising, because nowadays, almost every publisher pulls games over to this generation, even if they are just two or three years old – for example, even Risen 3 is receiving a port to the PlayStation 4, despite being an average game.

According to Tetsuya Nomura, the boss of the franchise, they have no plan to rerelease the 2013 and 2014-released Kingdom Hearts HD Remix games on PS4, which is weird. Final Fantasy, another big franchise of Square Enix, is a series that receives several HD ports to the PS4: Type-0 was released earlier this year, and that game was originally out on the PS4, XII is rumoured to get a port too and we all know about VII’s remake as well. Yet, they skip Kingdom Hearts? Unless fans request it, it seems that Square Enix will skip this chance. We can never know though.
