SPOTIFY – Considering how the British singer is still leading Spotify’s Top chart, and that her latest album is almost released, we looked at some of her older works. Born in 1986 this blonde lovely girl is skyrocketing in popularity, and contrary to the mainstream, we know that this is not because of the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack song’s success. One thing for sure: On my Mind is a huge success on Spotify.

 

Ellie Goulding usually releases new material pretty frequently, so there’s always new stuff to sink our teeth into. Her 2010 album called Lights did not gather too much love from the music fans, but she did not lose her momentum. In 2012 she released her second album called Halcyon which had a rather cold theme (just as the Ice bird). Although cold in theme, fans and critics loved the second album, as this release marked the true style of Ellie Goulding.

„The style itself”

There are singers in the world who sometimes unanimously are adored by fans. The lack of a style, accusations of plagiarism, yet every now and then a singer gets to the top on various charts, and even reaches the top place on Spotify. While Goulding cannot be accused of plagiarism, we can say that she never had her own style ever. If we examine her work real closely, the motives, and parts of her songs, then we realize that we can actually three singers before her that almost sound like her.
In fact their traits rule the albums most of the times, but it is not catastrophic.

She combines the style of Björk, Kate Nash, and Lykee Li and creates a good combination in the end. Of course maybe if these elements were mixed by someone else it would not have been as good, but Ellie has the voice and talent to mix these artists’ traits, and release a new mix of awesomeness for the audience.

Halcyon

While searching for Ellie Goulding’s secret to success we have realized her versatility, and her makeshift style was able to ascend her to the top of the charts. A lot of other things have also helped her success story, most notably the producers that helped her in terms of how the songs are built up. Love Me Like You Do had a fantastic atmosphere that on one had was supported by her majestic voice, on the other hand she got help from the producers that did a top-notch job on the song.
Her work with Calvin Harris was also great, and even brought in new fans that were not really a fan of her.

Tastes fine after a while…. like a good wine

As the years went by, Ellie made her own path in the music industry, and her makeshift style became more refined, acknowledged, until every song was played everywhere. From radios, online radio station, to youtube, she went from barely known to a superstar. Although in 2012 she released Halcyon and made her big debut, three years later she is back with Delirium.

Cloudy weather from the West

When compared to pop singers these days, Ellie stands above all of them in the music industry. While most of them will try to be the most popular, and follow the fashion – instead she does not care about the latest trends. Nobody can expect her to come out with new material every year, and every second year a new single, even if we expected that from her, she would not budge. She is one of those musicians that only create when they have something to say, and only make an album when there is something to actually create. Unlike her peers, a lot of them just throw their voice around for cash, and the songs themselves are below average. Based on what we heard, we hope that Ellie Goulding’s latest album will also be on the top of the charts.

 

Lovely

As my other Spotify articles show, the pop genre that clings to the trends, are way beyond me, yet I can safely say that Ellie Goulding is really good. It was able to make me believe that I am not just listening to money hungry singer girl, but that she actually has some message with her songs. Which makes her one of the most important singers in this genre, unlike Rachel Platten or Selena Gomez’s work. And I suggest to everyone to listen to Spotify TOP 50′ On my mind: it’s a well deserved succes!
