Although Phil Spencer works as the boss of Xbox, we can’t deny something about him: he is extremely respectful towards the competiton and they are better at something than Microsoft, he’s not holding himself back to criticize themselves – while it’s not good towards the employers, the public can find it a decent move. Spencer had a panel at GeekWire this year, and he talked about the competition between the PS4 and the Xbox One.
He admitted that the PlayStation 4 now has a landslide of lead over the Xbox One, and it’s pretty much proven by the sales date too: while Sony has crossed the line of the 25 million sold consoles, Microsoft is somewhere around 12-13 million (and we can’t say any concrete information about this, as MS doesn’t publish offiicial numbers whatsoever) – and this might be even more one-sided as the PlayStation 4 just received a price cut in the United States.
Spencer doesn’t know whether the PS4 can be caught or not, and he also admitted that Microsoft lost out on a lot of potential customers with their launch announcement policies (forcing Kinect onto everyone at launch, no used games, must-have internet connection to play), and it was too late to revert from these.
Respectable. We need more leaders like him.
