Expect a Call of Duty movie and a Skylanders cartoon soon!

Activision Blizzard is entering into the cinema scene, so Ubisoft, 2K and co can expect another rival to enter the ring: Activision Blizzard Studios was just formed, which will be co-led by Nick Van Dyk, a former ex-Disney employee. He will be partnered by a senior creative executive, but Activision Blizzard is yet to announce this person.

Activision Blizzard Studios‘ first project is going to be a Skylanders cartoon, and this will be supervised by Eric Rogers, whose name you might know from Futurama. You can also expect a Call of Duty movie to get into production shortly as well – honestly, we are surprised that this has not happened yet! ABS plans to develop the movie into a part of a series, with the chance to make a television adaptation as well. (Oh God, please don’t let it be a reality show!)

So Activision is expanding and their two most successful franchises are taking the jump into the cinemas. We are somewhat shocked that they did not mention Destiny – after all, this is one of their flagship franchises at the moment…
