How scripted is CoD Black Ops III’s campaign? [VIDEO]

Treyarch‘s Call of Duty Black Ops III was released on last Friday, so maybe some of our readers have already completed the story modes of the game. One of them threw up an interesting result: Kotaku’s Kirk Hamilton discovered a sad, but in a sense, hilarious thing. What exactly are we talking about?

The story has one point, where the AI drives a car, and we have to take the turret of it to destroy the robots. On paper, because you don’t have to! This video below correctly shows it: while the first 40 seconds are your traditional approach, the remainder of the video is a pacifist way to play, and nothing bad happens! Everything goes according to plan.

This is somewhat disappointing, because while it’s a good thing to script some things and scenes, the developers can abuse this, and Treyarch perfectly fell off the horse here. You shouldn’t be able to complete the level like this. Thankfully this is just on the current-gen versions (PS4/X1/PC), because Beenox and Mercenary left out the story in the PS3/X360 versions.
