Andrew House: PlayStation VR has a second phase lined up

Sony Computer Entertainment doesn’t want to end up in the same way as Nintendo did with their Virtual Boy two decades ago. Although we have to admit that the Nintendo Virtual Boy was too early for its time. Sony plans more with the PlayStation VR in the long run. That’s good to hear. What does SCE plan with their virtual reality headset? Andrew House talked about it – he’s quite active nowadays; last week, he was announcing Kojima’s move to Sony.

According to Andrew House, the development and the launch has the first phase set in stone: they focus exclusively on games for now. However, there’s going to be another, second phase later on, where they are going to focus on music and video applications. House thinks „when it comes to high-production-value, 360-degree, camera-generated live action experiences, there’s still, in my view, a lot of work to be done on the back-end production, before they get to a point where you’d say they’re ready for primetime.” Makes sense, because Sony can easily just bring over content from its music and video arm of the company.

PlayStation VR is going to launch in the first half of 2016 „for the price of a new gaming platform.”

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
