SPOTIFY – The Polish band has been active since 2005 was formed in Lubin. They are an active representative of traditional music. Since their foundation, they have collected traditional music songs and played them all over Europe with a bit of modification here and there. Of course, in a trend-setting music industry such bands cannot be megahit successful, but we can still acknowledge them since they were the ones who created the soundtrack of The Witcher 3.

The group’s debut album was released in 2007 and was called Eiforr. The production finished sixth in Germany’s Virtual Fiddle competition. Later in 2008 they won the Folk Song of The Year with Oj Dido, they later won also in 2009, and 2012.

Medieval melodies

The band mainly uses Slavic motifs and works on creating old songs for festivals, costume parties, and, of course, other such products. They produce high-quality songs, as they know what they are doing regarding atmosphere and ambiance.

Such a band was needed for Witcher 3, as it creates a great soundtrack for a fantasy game. The varied songs that are included in the game raised the bar for soundtracks in video games. Just as the developers, the band also thought that the soundtrack should not be a mere background in the video game, but an actual part of the product. That’s why The Witcher 3 was so successful and allowed the player to be fully immersed in the video game.

Different talents

Their most fundamental instrument is the baglama, which is often found in Turkish folk music. The long-necked instrument provides the motif for the band, and Mikolaj Rybacki is an expert of the device, who plays superb solos during the sessions.

Katarzyna Bromirska is the master of the Byzantine lyra, which is a good way to reinvigorate the Byzantine music, as the place was a gold mind for European folk music. Of course, the drums cannot be ignored, and in the band, the davvul, and bodhran is used by Joanna Lacher and Christina Bogdanova.

Every member is part of the vocals, and we can safely say that all of them have magnificent voices, so they can bring back the medieval themes and ambiance. The only member who can is truly highlighted from the band is Christina Bogdanova, who has given spectacular arias for the Witcher’s world.
