The PlayStation 4 takes the thirteenth spot

The PlayStation 4 is a very popular console, there is no doubt about it – Sony recently announced that the PS4 was sold (and not shipped, so there’s no cheating with the figures) almost 36 million copies in little more than two years. This sales number can be compared with other consoles’ results – this is what Middle of Nowhere Gaming did, and they have come up with something.

The PS4 is now the thirteenth most sold console. Thanks to the holiday season’s 5.7 million sold consoles, the current-gen Sony console jumped both the SEGA Megadrive/Genesis and the Nintendo 64. This result not only means that the PS4 is selling like hotcakes, but it also means that current day gaming is much more widespread than it was in the nineties.

The 12th place is somewhat far away, because this is taken by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System with its 49,1 million sold consoles. Maybe the PS4 can take this spot by the end of the year… or maybe even earlier, if we consider the upcoming PS4-exclusive titles!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
