The creator of Gears of War passed away

Another important figure in gaming has passed away. Even though he did not work on PlayStation games all the time, we still must talk about Michael Forgey. He died on March 3 due to an aggressive form of cancer which was diagnosed in May 2015. It was inoperable.

Forgey became known as the producer of the first two Gears of War games, but he didn’t just work on the games of Marcus Fenix; he also was the producer of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, as well as having his work cut out for him in the X360-launch title Perfect Dark Zero as well as Fable. Previously, he was also an executive producer of Monolith Productions as well as a tester at Microsoft. Before his Gears of War adventures, he playtested multiple games, starting from Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus via Viva Pinata to Conker: Live & Reloaded, not to mention Fable, Fable Lost Chapter and even 2014’s Anniversary. He climbed the ranks as years progressed – after his Gears of War producer roles, he filled the same seat for Kinect Adventures!.

May he rest in peace.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
