There will be a Call of Duty this autumn as usual. There will also be a new Battlefield game from DICE as well. However, both FPS franchises seem to go into the future this year! It’s very likely that both shooters will have a futuristic setting.
Industry insider Shinobi, who has been providing reliable information in the past many times says that Call of Duty (which, according to GamesTM, would be Ghosts 2 this year) will play in space. That’s not something that we expected from Infinity Ward this year after 2013’s Ghosts! Sure, 2014’s Advanced Warfare and 2015’s Black Ops III also had a near-future setting, this year would go far more into the sci-fi theme. Did Activision react to it? No.
Battlefield 5, which is seemingly called Eastern Front, would have a fictional third world war story if we can believe the leaked documentation. The game would be unveiled on EA Play on June 12, and the release date is likely going to be December 6 (then Santa Claus can put a BF5 disc next to the chocolate for us). The DLCs would be called Fallen Dragon, Prototype Warfare (totally not CoD, right?), Titan Assault and Independence Day.
We have a great duel this year.
