Pokémon Go And The Paranoia

In Florida, a 37-year-old man thought that two teenagers, who were playing Pokémon Go, were thieves, and he pointed the gun at them!

According to The Orlando Sentinel, the man woke up to a loud noise at 1:30 AM. He saw a car near his house, so he grabbed his handgun, and started to investigate.

The confusion came from a fragment of dialogue: „Did you catch anything?” The man thought the teens had robbed his house, so he jumped in front of the car with his weapon in his hands. Of course, the teenagers drove away, but the story doesn’t end here: the man fired a few shots at the car because he believed that he was being attacked.

The results: probably a few neighbors woke up, a few wasted bullets, a flat tire, and bullet holes on the fender, and the hubcap. The Pokémon-playing teenagers were not injured. The investigation is ongoing.

Wouldn’t it have been a better idea to look around in the house first to see if there was anything valuable missing? This misunderstanding could have easily been solved with a simple question: „What’s going on?” After all, the man was armed, so that he could have defended himself…
