It looks like even Sony isn’t fully trusting the new Gran Turismo game.
So far, it looked that Polyphony Digital will be done with Gran Turismo Sport by November, but just a week ago, we had an announcement regarding Kazunori Yamauchi‘s PlayStation-exclusive franchise that the game will launch in 2017 instead. This announcement might be the reason why Sony began to refund digital pre-orders according to TeamVVV.
Sony sent the following message to those who pre-ordered: „On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport had been delayed until 2017. We do not have a new release date at this time. We have, therefore, decided to cancel your pre-order and refund your pre-order payment. Once we have a new release date for Gran Turismo Sport, we will offer a revised pre-order for it on the PlayStation Store at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your custom and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
It’s not a common sight to see a message like this one with a seemingly short delay. Gran Turismo Sport might be in bigger trouble than we thought. The delay could be bigger if Sony keeps the distance from one of its iconic franchises…
