Sleeping Dogs’ Developers Shut Their Doors

United Front Games, the team behind 2012’s not-too-shabby Sleeping Dogs, is now closed.

According to GameInformer, the Vancouver-based studio, which just launched their recent game less than a month ago on Steam’s Early Access, is now defunct. Smash + Grab, which just had a free weekend on Steam, isn’t available for purchase anymore, and we have yet to see what happens with it – it’s not a common sight to see an Early Access title get pulled from Valve‘s store front altogether.

United Front Games was formed in 2007. Their first game was ModNation Racers, and after Sleeping Dogs (which was originally planned as a True Crime title), they worked on LittleBigPlanet Karting, and some porting (Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Halo: The Master Chief Collection). They were also working on a Sleeping Dogs spin-off called Triad Wars. The problems already surfaced with this open world online action game – it got shut down in January 2016.

What a shame; Sleeping Dogs, having received a PS4/X1 port as well, was an okay GTA-clone, and due to its setting (Hong Kong), a different culture was present to us.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
