The Witcher’s Creator: Not a Zloty Anymore From the Games!

Without Andrzej Sapkowski, CD Projekt RED wouldn’t be in the position which it is in at the moment.

Sapkowski has created The Witcher book series, which received its first video game adaptation in late 2007. However, it turned out that despite the multi-million sales of the franchise, Sapkowski doesn’t see one extra zloty out of the profit!

During his interview with Eurogamer , he said that he wanted the money upfront by CD Projekt RED. „What I want from an adaptation: a big bag of money. That is all.” He also said that he gets no percentage of the profit either.

„I was stupid enough to sell them rights to the whole bunch. They offered me a percentage of their profits. I said, ‘No, there will be no profit at all–give me all my money right now! The whole amount.’ It was stupid. I was stupid enough to leave everything in their hands because I didn’t believe in their success. But who could foresee their success? I couldn’t.”

At least he admits that The Witcher games are successful, even though he doesn’t play them at all. After all, in a 2007 interview, he admitted that his computer has MS-DOS on it…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
