Nintendo Switch To Shrink Next Year?!

Citigroup’s prediction is a little surprising, to say at the least…

Bloomberg reports that Citigroup, an American investment bank, predicts that Nintendo will create a smaller version of the Nintendo Switch, dubbed the Switch Mini. It is predicted to launch in the fiscal year of 2018 (April 2018-March 2019), because they noticed the good sales results of the Switch. (We wrote about that subject here.)

„Although the Nintendo Switch can be used as a handheld device, we think smaller children could struggle to use it comfortably in that format due to its size and weight. Accordingly, we think Nintendo will launch a lighter, dedicated handheld version of the Switch, possibly to be called the Switch Mini,” Citigroup Inc. analysts Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa and Alicia Yap wrote in a recent report.

They didn’t mention the price, but they did say that by March 2019, 6.7 million Switch Minis could get sold, and the regular model could reach 25.7 million sales.

After all, the Nintendo DS got a Lite version about 1.5 years after its launch, so it makes sense. We can hardly believe the prediction, though…
