The Maradona-Konami Story Takes A Twist

The Argentinian football legend and Konami had some problems.

Previously, we wrote about how Diego Maradona did not appreciate his inclusion in Konami‘s Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 without his permission. Kotaku, based on Argentinian El Eco, reports an update on the story.

The two parties managed to strike a deal outside court with Konami paying an undisclosed amount of money to Maradona to avoid legal threats. In return, Maradona will not only be part of the game from now on but also become a promoter of the Pro Evolution Soccer series until 2020.

Konami Digital’s president, Takayuki Kubo has personally fled to Argentina to discuss the situation with Maradona, who will spend part of his money on improving Argentinian grass-roots football facilities.
