Ex-Sony Boss Phil Harrison: Sony And Microsoft Don’t Expand The Gaming Audience

The ex-Sony leader thinks that the Nintendo Switch can do it, though.

Harrison worked for Sony between 1992 and 2008, and after a brief stint with Atari and Gaikai, he was at Microsoft between 2012 and 2015. He’s a veteran, and he said the following quotation to GameReactor:

„I think Sony has done a great job in making PlayStation 4 very popular in the world. What I wonder about and maybe worry about a little bit is that (both Microsoft and Sony) are they growing the market? Are they building and investing in the content and broadening the experiences to bring in more players? It looks to me, from the public announcements at least, that they are increasingly going for the same kind of core, hardcore gamer. Whereas the Nintendo Switch, I think, really can play to a wider audience. It’s going to be interesting how the market dynamics play out over the next three or four years in console.”

Suddenly, we now realize why Sony launched the Playlink program – one of its titles will be a free game for PlayStation Plus subscribers in July…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
